He did it! C Hanlon Managing Director Chris Hanlon successfully completed the London Marathon on Sunday, his first since recovering from three heart attacks in the last three years.
His chosen charities are Macmillan Cancer Support and Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.
A Very Personal Challenge
After ups and downs of recovery and with help from the heart team at Hairmyres Hospital, the London Marathon was a huge challenge for Chris.
He has set a target of raising £2,500 and will match all donations made on his Macmillan Just Giving Page by giving the same amount on that page to the Chest Heart & Stroke Association of Scotland up to a maximum value of £2,500.
This is his 10th marathon and while he told his family this would be his last, because of his dedication to his training and fitness and with help from physicians, he now feels in great condition so isn’t ruling out yet another marathon run.
Speaking to Glasgow Live he said “When I had the latest heart attack last May, [his physicians]] seemed to get to the bottom of it and that really put me back on track to get me into my training again.
“My condition is great now, I’ve just got to keep on monitoring it. Being able to do exercise really does help and I think that enabled my recovery as well.”
At the time of writing, Chris has raised £1,680 towards his £2,500 target for McMillan Cancer Support. As stated, any amount raised up to £2,500 he will match and give to Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland the same amount up to the value of £2,500.
Any donation you can give no matter how small will be gratefully received.
