C. Hanlon Drainage division received an enquiry to resolve an issue with saturated grounds around the property managed by the housing association, other contractors had attempted to rectify the issue to no avail and the client wished a final solution to the problem to include a detailed specification and professional job to be carried out.
Excavation of the trench to receive the new field drain was particularly difficult due to the land backfill which which was contained within the sub-soils. The surrounding area was previously a mining location and once the mines were infilled a heavy duty sub-base was infilled to ensure a hard standing and structurally sound base for construction. Our team on site quickly flagged this up and changed the type of plant used to excavate in order to ensure effective and timeous completion of the works.
Our estimator attended the site initially to meet with the client to discuss the issue which was saturated grounds around the development, a drain design proposal was drafted along with a scope and specification to which was agreed by the client.
Our civils team then attended the site and carried out excavation of trenches and installation of all necessary pipework/surrounds and permeable membrane.
All grounds were reinstated to the best standard and excess debris removed from site.
All works completed and upon testing the areas are now free of saturation ensuring the lawn is now no longer sodden underfoot and residents at the property can now enjoy the grounds. We recommended that the areas of new turf were well watered for around 2 weeks to let the new turf take.
Feedback from Client:
“Pictures look great and I popped up earlier just to have a look in person. A few of the residents have come back to me already as well to say how happy they are this time with the finished works and also the efforts the guys put in whilst on site. Thank You.”
