Pest Control for Bedbugs

British Pest Control Association Member
The common bedbug is becoming an increasing worry in Scotland. Generally transported via foreign travel systems through luggage or clothing etc, they are most active at night and are extremely difficult to treat due to their large numbers.

Some bedbug facts:

  • Bedbugs are parasitic – feeding on the hosts’ blood.
  • Their bites can cause prominent blisters, skin rashes and allergic symptoms.
  • They remain close to the host – in bed frames, drawers, wall sockets and even public transport seats laptop computers.
  • Bedbug infestations are not seasonal and can be there all year round. However, hotter weather can incite more breeding.
  • A female bedbug can lay 500 eggs during her lifespan.

Why Are Bedbugs Pests?

Bedbugs irritate their hosts by feeding from their blood. They are essentially bloodsuckers and if you are worried or concerned about a possible issue with them, look for small bloodspots on the skin or bedding and there will inevitably be irritation of the skin.

Bedbugs will always remain close to the host, for example within bedframes, drawers, cracks, boxes picture frames or any other areas.

Like the cockroach, the bedbug can be a nuisance throughout the year.
