Project Description

Dangerous Drain Gully – Coupar Street, Glasgow

At C Hanlon Drainage (formerly PowerRod) we pride ourselves on getting the job done as cost-effectively, efficiently and safely as possible, no job is too big or too small and we relish any new challenge catering for every need. The following is one of our smaller drainage projects embarked upon which we can take you through the simple process from looking at the job to completing effectively.

We received a call from staff at site with concerns of a dangerous drain gully in the car park of their premises causing a potential hazard to pedestrian and vehicular traffic, we advised them that we would visit site the following day to assess the situation on a free estimate basis with view to submit a cost for the necessary repair. One of our fully experienced and trained estimators attended and as you can see in the photograph the tarmac and the supporting brickwork holding the gully frame had deteriorated causing a serious trip hazard and potential vehicle damage.

Following up from our estimate visit a fixed estimate was submitted the same day to the staff at site by e-mail whereby acceptance was confirmed to us within a few days indicating a fair and reasonable price had effectively “won the job.” As soon as the estimate was accepted we provided a start date of within 2 days of the acceptance date.

Our fully trained operatives attended site and carried out cutting and breaking of the ground in the car park where the defective drain was situated, the existing deteriorated brickwork was demolished and rebuilt to accommodate the existing gully frame and cover which saved the client money on a new frame and cover.

Once the new gully unit had set and cured in place we carried out reinstatement using like for like heavy duty hot rolled asphalt and bitumen sealant to prevent future compromise to the new and surrounding tarmac.

“The works carried out were excellent and everything was completed on time. Unusually for companies we deal with the site was left in a better condition than when we started! The workmen arrived on time and informed us of progress and when works would be concluded. Good service.” – Barry at TISO (satisfied customer).
